Travel Tips

"Be prepared" is also a motto for travelers. Having the right clothes, shoes and first aid kit can make your holiday all the more enjoyable. Below are some key tips for traveling abroad.

Pack light
Verify your travel documents
Bring a First Aid kit
Avoid dehydration
Stay open-minded

Pack light
Several days in advance of your trip, you should lay everything you plan to take, and then make changes as required. We always think we need more than is necessary, often asking the question "Do I need that second sweater, and how many pairs of shoes will I really wear." The best way to get the maximum out of your outfits is to have pieces that are interchangeable and can be layered to cover varying temperatures. A light crease-resistant, rain and wind-proof jacket will prove indispensable in many climates. With shoes, the most important thing is comfort. You want to really take advantage of all there is to do and see, so good walking shoes are a must. Our tours are casual but you have some free time and if you wish to bring along a dressier outfit, plan on one that is easy to pack. Check the weather just prior to your trip to help guide your choices.

Verify your travel documents
Check that you have all of the required documentation, that it is current and has at least six months validity after the return date of your tour. Always make at least two photocopies, leave one with someone at home and the second take with you but keep separately from your documents. In case of loss or damage you have all the information to expedite replacements.

Bring a First Aid kit
If you require medication, always keep it with you, never pack it in your checked luggage. To cover all the little things that can happen, the following items are a good guideline to follow for bringing along:

  • Band-Aids

  • Adhesive tape

  • Antacid

  • Antibacterial cream

  • Over the counter pain reliever

  • Mosquito repellant

  • Antihistamine

Avoid dehydration
While traveling drink plenty of water, on long flights get up and stretch and avoid to many caffeinated or alcoholic beverages while flying as they will add to your dehydration.

Stay open-minded
The last a most important thing: come with an open mind to enjoy all the varied and beautiful places you will see and people you will meet.
